The BHS Greater Manchester committee are delighted to be running our first ever Online Dressage Competition! Never entered a dressage competition before? Looking to warm up before taking your horse out again after COVID restrictions? Classes for everyone; from Intro to Novice. TESTS: BRC Intro/Walk Trot Test 1 BRC Preliminary Test D1 BRC Novice Test D10 Please note the same horse and rider combination cannot enter the Intro and Novice class. Each class will be split into juniors (under 18yrs as of 1 Jan 2021) and seniors (18yrs+ as of 1 Jan 2021) All classes will be judged by a BHS APC and British Dressage listed judge. TESTS ARE AVAILABLE TO DOWNLOAD FROM HERE: http://www.bhs.org.uk/enjoy-riding/british-riding-clubs/brc-downloads/brc-tests?fbclid=IwAR0RXEqMWnpa9PVXRTXOidySjjCEufyU5QjX03ypn91h_bx_7jzv5OAIXMs GENERAL HELP AND RULES: - You do not need to be plaited or in competition attire, but we ask that horse and rider be clean and smart in appearance, please wear clothing that allows the Judge to see the riders position easily (e.g. too baggy clothing or all dark clothing on a dark horse is not ideal). - Riders MUST wear an appropriate hat, boots and gloves. -Hats to the current standard must be worn and correctly secured at all times when mounted. Please check yours meets current standards here: www.bhs.org.uk/headwear -All horses must be over the age of five years and of appropriate fitness level for the activity being undertaken - Any horses who are not sound or fit enough for the activity undertaken will be disqualified from the competition by the decision of the officials. -Tack must be in a safe condition and fit correctly - this is your responsibility to ensure before submitting your entry. -Abuse of the horse/overuse of the whip will result in disqualification. -Any horses deemed to be lame during their test will be withdrawn. -Tests should be ridden in a 20mx40m arena with dressage letters visible in the recording. -If travelling for arena hire this should be in compliance with the latest government guidance, don’t forget it is a legal requirement to have your horses’ passport when travelling. - Please ensure you adhere to the current COVID-19 restrictions and guidance when filming your test. - Readers are permitted, but no additional instruction may be given during the test. - Results will be published on Horse Monkey within a week of the competition closing (by 18th April), scoresheets emailed at the time of results publication to all competitors, and rosettes (1st-6th) posted thereafter. PLEASE NOTE: - Competition will be run in accordance with current BRC Rules and eligibility (except for special rules listed in this advice), the current BRC handbook can be purchased or downloaded for free here: http://www.bhs.org.uk/enjoy-riding/british-riding-clubs/brc-handbook - The judge’s decision is final. FILMING AND SUBMITTING YOUR VIDEO: -Video entries should not be submitted if previously submitted to another competition, each entry should be filmed solely for the purpose of entry to the BHS Manchester Committee Easter Online Dressage. - Please begin the video CLEARLY STATING VERBALLY the NAMES of both RIDER and HORSE, quoting the competition name “BHS MANCHESTER EASTER ONLINE DRESSAGE” - To film your tests, any filming device (phone, tablet or camera) can be used as long as your video quality is of a suitable standard to allow the judge to clearly see the movement and position of horse and rider. Please have the camera orientated so that it is RECORDING IN LANDSCAPE. - Footage will only be allowed to be judged that runs as a CONTINUOUS FILM as per a general competition test (you cannot cut/and add parts from different filming sessions). - All tests should be filmed with the camera person standing at C, facing towards A (as the judge normally would). The rider begins the test entering the arena at A riding towards the camera, where the judge would normally be sitting. Ensure the camera is able to pick up the whole profile of the horse. - Please keep videos at the same zoom level throughout, this should be as a wide enough zoom level, so that arena markers can be seen. Do not zoom in and out as the test is ridden. - Ensure that the sound is on in all recordings. - All videos should be uploaded to YouTube or a similar video hosting site and set to PRIVATE/HIDDEN so that it is accessible only via URL/link, which should be provided with your entry. Entries close 23:00 on 11th April. Videos must be submitted at the time of entry, or cannot be considered. VIOLATION OF THE RULES ABOVE WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION, NO REFUNDS WILL BE GRANTED FOR DISQUALIFICATIONS. The aim of this competition is to promote the improvement of riding, training of ponies/ horses and horsemanship in a safe and enjoyable environment. The welfare of horses and everyone’s health and safety is of paramount importance. We intend for this to be a fun competition, comments/feedback will be provided to all participants who wish to receive them. ENJOY!
