Bogenraith Arena Event series 2025
Final to be held at Scone Palace Horse Trials on Saturday 23rd August 2025.
This new exciting Championships will have Qualifying events held at Bogenraith Equestrian, Champfleurie Stables, Ian Stark Equestrian and West Kype Riders Club from January through to July.
Each Qualifying venue must include the agreed Data Protection statement* relating to rules and data on their online entry platform. Competition results (rider name, horse name, position, penalties, competition class and date) will be shared with Bogenraith Equestrian to support the final entry validation. Same as ACE
When entering both the qualifier and championships the same horse’s name must be used (no stable names).
QUALIFIERS
· Combinations placed 1st -4th in each class 80cms, 90cms and the 1m classes will all qualify for the final.
· There is no Junior/senior split.
· Riders do not need to be members of BE to take part in the qualifiers or the final.
· Riders compete in their cross-country kit, including cross country colours, and will take on a course of show jumps followed by a simulated cross-country course of knock-down fences/ where permits solid XC arena fences.
· The whole round is timed as one, with penalties given as per SJ and XC along with 0.4-time penalties given for every second over the optimum time. Too fast time penalties incurred when more than 5 seconds under the Optimum time.
· The final will have a mix of knockdown Jump4Joy simulated XC fences and solid XC fences.
Qualification is as follows:
· All Classes the top 4 qualify. If a combination has already qualified, the qualification may be passed down the line to 6th place only.
· Bogenraith Equestrian reserve the right to increase the number of qualifying places/Issue Wild Card entries for the final as they see fit.
· If the horse has not competed in BE competitions before, the horse is Grade 4/BS (375pts) and is eligible for the 80 & 90 Championship class.
Riders must be in their 10th birth year or older in 2025; horses/ponies must be foaled in 2020 or older. Heights: for 80 and 90 Championships ponies must be at a minimum 132cm’s, for 100 they must be a minimum of 142cms.
· The Championships are run and administered under British Eventing Rules and Regulations, current body protector and protective headwear guidelines must be adhered to. Stop watches are not permitted. No Fixed peak hats.
· When entering the Championships competitors will agree to abide by BE Rules which include but is not limited to the rules relating to vaccinations, BEFAR and standards of protective dress. BE compliant Cross-country kit must be worn.
A BE Official will be present at the Championships to oversee competition and answer any scoring queries, discipline and horse welfare issues that may arise, they will also complete vaccination spot checks. Hats will also be checked and tagged.
Qualifying competitions are organised and run by the venue, competitors are requested to abide by the venue’s rules and guidance when competing there. Qualifying venues will be provided with rules, regulations and format details relating to how each qualifier should be run.
COMPETITION STRUCTURE AND SCORING
• Course will consist of six to eight show jumps, followed immediately by eight to 10 simulated, knock-down cross country fences.
• There will be no more than 20 jumping efforts.
• The whole round will be timed.
• Penalties will be given as per the table below.
• The winner will be the competitor with the lowest number of penalties.
• In the event of a tie the winner will be the one closest to the optimum time.
• The optimum time is calculated based on a speed of 350m per minute.
• Stop watches are not permitted.
• Penalties as follows:
Knocking down obstacle 4 penalties
First disobedience of horse 4 penalties
Second disobedience at same fence 8 penalties
Third disobedience Elimination
Starting before the Bell Elimination
Fall of rider and/or horse Elimination
Error of Course not rectified Elimination
Time will be taken overall.
For every second in excess of the optimum time 0.4 penalty
Every second in excess of 5 seconds under the optimum time 0.4 penalty
Exceeding the time limit Elimination
Time limit is twice the optimum time.

Whip use: excessive use of the whip, including repeated slapping down the shoulder, is prohibited. The whip may be used a maximum of three times during any round. Use of the whip will be monitored and excessive use may result in elimination at the discretion of the judges. NO SCHOOLING/DRESSAGE WHIPS PERMITTED AT ANY TIME.
Hair must be above the collar with long hair secured in a hair net.
All piercings must be removed.
NO DOGS in centre buildings
All competitors, parents/guardians and helpers must ensure that they act courteously to stewards and officials at all times. Rudeness will not be tolerated.
Hats must be worn at all times when mounted and must comply to the current BETA Standards.
