ElandLodge.com National Hunter Trial Qualifier

Perfect for those of you who love Cross Country, Hunter Trials are a competitive XC only event! Hunter Trials are a real test of horse and rider partnership; competitors take on the full BE standard Cross Country course. This is held over Eland Lodge’s undulating terrain which runs through grassland and woodland. Great for riders of all abilities, classes range from 50cm – 1m and also includes a pairs class. These competitions are qualifiers for the ElandLodge.com Hunter Trial Championships which take place at Eland Lodge on Saturday 27th September and Sunday 28th September.

Entry Fee:

Classes 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 - £40, Class 4 - £60 plus £5 medical fee per rider per day.

Entries close one week prior, or earlier if the event is oversubscribed. Late entries may be accepted after the closing date if space permits, these will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. A £3 late entry fee per class will apply.

Format

There will be an undisclosed optimum time in each class The winner will be the rider with the least number of jumping penalties who is closest to the optimum time Certain fences on the Cross Country course may have a black flag option (alternative) but these will attract time or penalty points. These will be clearly marked.

Rules

• Qualifiers are held under British Eventing Cross Country Rules, with the exception that NO WATCHES ARE ALLOWED.
• No horse or pony entered in the competition is allowed to school over the Cross Country course for 5 days before the event.

What to Wear

Appropriate cross country competition wear must be worn. You must wear an up to standard peakless hat (as per British Eventing Rules) You must wear an up to standard Body Protector (2018 Level 3 Body Protector). If an Air Jacket is worn, this must be worn over a standard Body Protector. You will need to provide your own number bib - a limited supply will be available to purchase in our shop or can be purchased online here. You can select free click and collect to pick up on the day of the event.

Rosettes & Prizes

Rosettes and prize vouchers are awarded up to 6th place, dependent on the number of entries per class. Classes may be split into sections. Pairs Class Dressing Fence: An additional prize is awarded in the 80cm Pairs class, judged on the competitors’ style and togetherness at the dressing fence. This will not affect the overall result.

Qualifying for the Elandlodge.com National Hunter Trial Championships

Riders that place 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their class will qualify for the Elandlodge.com National Hunter Trial Championships in September 2025 and receive a qualifying card and rosette. Please see more information here.

Times

Start times will be emailed to competitors and published 48 hours before the event and will be available on this event page under the 'Start List' button.

Emails will be sent to the email address used to enter the class on Horse Monkey. If you don't receive an email, please check your junk folder and that you have not unsubscribed to Eland Lodge emails.

Declaring

Competitors are to declare at the show secretary’s tent to collect their numbers before entering the warm up arena.

Cancellation & Withdrawals
