GENERAL RULES

1.       It is a condition of entry that the rules are accepted and understood. Failure to comply with any of the rules may lead to expulsion from the show ground.  All Participants entre at their own risk.

GENERAL RULES

1.1 Passports- All Horses/Ponies on the show field must have their passport with them and spot checks will be made.

1.2 Equine Influenza vaccinations- All horses and ponies must have had a primary and secondary vaccination, and this must be stamped in their passport -followed by a 12 monthly booster. http://www.bhs.org.uk/enjoy-riding/british-riding-clubs/news.   Please ensure you plan ahead for your vaccinations as you can not compete for 7 days following a vaccination. 1.3 Zero Tolerance Policy

· Hatton Horse show has a zero-tolerance policy- all incidents will be reviewed by the committee.

· Any incident of physical violence or any incident deemed to be of sufficient severity may result in being asked to leave the show ground immediately.

· The Judges Decision is Final.

· Any arguing or rudeness, verbal, physical to any Judge, Steward or committee member will not be tolerated.

· Social media policy- Any person posting derogatory comments which may be detrimental to Hatton Horse show or hurtful comments about Judges, Stewards, Committee on any social media platform will be subject to the zero tolerance policy. Re posting or re tweeting can be seen as an endorsement of the original comment.

· Mistreatment of any animal on the show ground will not be tolerated.

 

1.4 Safeguarding policy- Hatton Horse show has a safeguarding policy. If any matter regarding the safety and welfare of a child, young person or vulnerable adult occurs or is reported -Hatton Horse Show has a duty to investigate and report as per the safeguarding policy. Examples include Physical, Emotional, Neglect or Sexual abuse.

1.5 Complaints- Any person making a complaint or questioning any aspect of the show must do so in an orderly manner by placing £20 with the Show Secretary within one hour of the event happening together with a written explanation of the complaint. If the complaint is found to be justified by the committee at their next meeting the £20 will be returned. If not, the £20 will be donated to charity.

 

2 RIDERS AGE AND HEIGHT OF PONY

2.1 Riders Age -The age of rider refers to age on 1st January in the current year

2.2 Competitors must be 3 years old on 1st January in the current year to take part

2.3 Where the rider’s age limit and/or height or type of horse or pony is not specified, all riders must be suitably mounted at the discretion of the Judge.

2.4 Horse/Pony age refers to the age on the 1st January in the current year.

2.4 Horse/Pony Height- The committee reserve the right to request a height certificate where any height is in dispute.

 

3 SHOW AND CLASS ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

3.1 Entries are made via horse monkey. 

3.2 Competitors who have already entered a class may be allowed to enter additional classes on show day (Cash only) if there is space in the relevant class. Entries must be made before the relevant class starts.

3.3 The committee reserve the right to refuse any entry or to alter the programme, consolidate classes or to abandon classes. Also, to amend, alter or add to these rules as they feel necessary.

3.4 The committee cannot be held responsible for the clashing of classes and competitors should bear in mind the approximate times given when entering.

3.5 Riders wishing to leave the ring to compete in another class may do so at the discretion of the judge.

3.6 It is the competitors’ responsibility to enter the ring when asked to do so. Failure to do so may lead to elimination from the class.

3.7 It is the Judge’s discretion as to whether to hold the class or allow late competitors to enter the ring.

3.8 Competitors must not enter rings unless told to do so by an authorised person in charge of the ring. Disobeying this rule will result in elimination.

3.9 Entry fees cannot be returned except at the discretion of the Show Secretary. In the case of cancellation of the show, any entries will be carried forward to next show.

 

4 LEAD REIN COMPETITORS

4.1 Competitors entering Lead Rein classes are confined to Lead Rein throughout the show and MUST REMAIN ON THE LEAD REIN WHILST ON THE SHOW & PARKING FIELD.

4.2 Lead rein competitors may only enter classes specifically designated “lead rein” with the exception of Best Turned Out, Thelwell Class, Ridden Veteran.

 

5 HORSE/PONY AGE, ENTIRES & BREEDS

5.1 Any horse or pony competing in ridden events must be 4 years of age or over in the current year and must be of sound condition.

5.2 Foreign Breeds are classified as those breeds originating outside of the British Isles. Passports may be required.

5.3 Racehorse to riding Horse- Open to all ex-racehorses that have raced under rules or been in training.

5.4 No Stallions

 

6 HATS, WHIPS, SPURS AND TACK

6.1 Hats It is mandatory for all Competitors to wear a protective helmet manufactured to standards listed to the attached standards; https://www.bhs.org.uk/media/jolmuvpy/2023-bhs-approvals-and-bhs-assessments-hat-guidev1.pdf .  It is mandatory that all junior competitors wear a protective riding hat in all classes. It is also recommended that all competitors competing in in hand classes wear a protective riding hat to the correct standard.

6.2 Whips EXCESSIVE USE OF WHIP OR SPURS WILL RESULT IN ELIMINATION AND THIS RULING WILL BE ENFORCED. No whips over 30” to be used in any class.

6.3 Spurs Unless stated, the use of spurs (blunt, turned down) will be allowed at the discretion of the judge. No spur to exceed 3cm in length. No roughened or cutting edges, barbs or serrations will be allowed. Spurs are not allowed in Equitation/ Handy Pony /lead rein

6.4 Classes Equitation-All Equitation classes are to be ridden in snaffle bits only- Wilkie snaffles are acceptable. Green Horse/Pony-Only snaffle bits are allowed, No Spurs are allowed. Handy Pony/Horse - No spurs or whips are allowed. Working Hunter -plain coloured leg boots may be worn during the jumping phase. These must be removed for the showing section. No other change of tack is allowed.

 

7. SAFETY ON THE SHOWGROUND

7.1 NO CANTERING OR GALLOPING will be allowed outside competition rings areas for safety reasons. Handlers/Riders must be in full control of their animals whilst on the show ground. 7.2 All working in must be done in designated warming up areas.

7.3 All riders, owners and competitors allow their horses and ponies to compete at their own risk. Neither the committee nor any persons acting on its behalf will be held responsible for any accident, illness or injury to competitors, spectators, property or animals.

7.4 No horse/pony may be left tied unsupervised to the outside of a trailer

7.5 Any vehicles, boxes, trailers or equipment on the showground are the responsibility of the owners and the committee accept no responsibility for any accident, damage or loss for any reason whatsoever.

7.6 Drivers are requested to show due consideration to animals and other members when parking and also are requested to park where directed by a member of the committee.

7.7 The riding of pedal or motorcycles will not be allowed on the show ground.

7.8 All dogs must be on a lead. All dog mess must be removed immediately.

 

8 LITTERING

8.1 All rubbish must be taken home by competitors and spectators

8.2 All horse droppings/bedding must be taken home by competitors
