FIELD HOUSE EVENTS
Field House Events (“FHE”) is based in Marchington, Staffordshire. It provides services for Competitions, Arena Hire facility, Events/Shows and Instruction.
Terms and Conditions for Competitors, Owners, Arena Hire, Visitors, Children, Guests, your employees/helpers hereafter referred to as “You”/” Your”
“You” are required to accept these terms and conditions for Field House Events (“FHE”). If you do not agree then you may not visit or use the facilities of FHE. The partners, staff and agents of “FHE” are collectively referred to as “we” or “us”.
Acceptance of Risk
No child under the age of 6 to compete at or use the facilities of Field House.
“You” accept that being around horses and riding at any standard has inherent risk and that all horses/animals may react unpredictably on occasions. You may be injured, fall off, or be injured by another horse. “You” accept these risks and it is “your” responsibility to arrange insurance cover for yourselves and “your” animals and if you are hiring the arena facilities you are adequately insured for damage caused to the facilities whilst you are on “FHE” premises.
“You” understand that children are at particular risk around horses and agree to keep children that “your” responsibility under close supervision. “You” accept responsibility for the behaviour and welfare of any children you bring to the “FHE”.
“You” understand that competing or using the Arena, Arena Eventing course or Show Jump Hire (or all) carries enhanced risk over and above general riding and agree that if “you” chose to participate in arena hire or any competition or event, it is up to “you” to ensure that “you” have the experience and ability to ride the course including any jumps that form part of it. If “you” are in any doubt, you will use your judgment and experience and not enter.
“You” accept responsibility for the welfare, behaviour and injury to “Your” persons/animals who are acting under your supervision and instruction. It is “Your” responsibility to ensure the Health & Safety of “Your” persons whilst on/using the facilities.
“You” understand that “FHE” is an Equestrian Centre and understand and accept the risks of being on such an establishment. These risks include but are not limited to uneven and slippery ground, unpredictable animal behaviour and traffic. “You” agree not to enter any areas that are prohibited.
“You“ must adhere to all signage on display including but not restricted to the “Right of Way” signs at the entrance to the Arena(s).
Horses and Riding
“You” agree that “Your” horse’s behaviour and welfare is your responsibility, and that “You” will maintain a valid passport with a record of up-to-date inoculations including ‘flu and tetanus, and show these to us if “We” ask. If “Your “ horse is showing any symptoms of illness, “You” may not bring “Your” horse to “FHE”.
It is a mandatory requirement that all Stallions display identification in line with BS, BD and BE rules, and at competitions the Collecting Ring Steward is made aware.
“You” agree to only ride or lead a horse whilst wearing a correctly fastened riding hat compliant with BS standards (and suitable riding gloves and suitable riding footwear with defined heels. You understand that it is advisable to wear a hat when grooming. The leading of horses in the collecting ring is prohibited.
“You” understand that wearing a body protector may reduce the severity of an injury should an accident happen. For children and for jumping over solid fences (cross-country and arena eventing) it is a mandatory requirement to wear body protectors to current standards are required. Otherwise, you understand it is your choice whether or not to wear a body protector. You warrant that you and anyone else you permit to ride a horse are suitably competent and experienced to ride that horse. For safety reasons all lone riders must be accompanied by another person. A mobile phone should be carried in case of emergency.
If “Your” horse is stabled with “Us” temporarily then stables must be left clean and tidy with clean bedding banked up across the back. “FHE” do not provide any bedding.
Insurance and Liability
“You” agree to maintain appropriate insurance for yourself, any guests and all property that you bring to “FHE”. If “You” compete then you agree to ensure “Your” insurance covers “Your” participation in competitions. “You” must ensure that you and anyone you allow to ride your horse are properly insured for Public Liability & Employers Liability (if applicable) and any legal liability that may attach to “You” as the keeper of the horse.
“We” accept NO responsibility for loss or damage to your property (including but not limited to your horse).
Competitions
If you compete, “You” agree to abide by the Rules of the competition and pay the appropriate fee prior to entering the Arena.
If “You” withdraw or if “You” are not allowed to compete due to not complying with the rules or not bringing the correct equipment or documentation (such as passport and vaccination certificates) then no refunds/transfers will be given.
“You” are responsible for the Health & Safety of “Your” persons including you employee/helpers who are acting under your instruction. “You” are responsible for providing them with compliant safety equipment. “FHE” does not allow their staff/helpers to handle third party horses/animals at any time.
All unaffiliated events will be run by reference to the relevant affiliated rules: British Show Jumping (BS), British Dressage (BD) and British Eventing (BE). The decision of the Judge is final. “We” may amend the rules at any time. If during a competition you are eliminated then “You” will only be allowed to try and jump ONE further fence, after which “You” must leave the arena. If time permits and the Judge consents, “You” may enter the class as an HC (Non-Competitive) round.
Prize money must be claimed on the day of the event and in line with BS, BD and BE rules. “FHE will pay out prize money in accordance with relevant rules.
“You” agree that event photography is an integral part of competitions, and competitors may be photographed. “We” may pass rider, horse and competition details to the event photographer who may display these details on their website.
Arena Eventing / Cross County Hire
Every person entering the Arena Eventing course does so at their own risk, and voluntarily accepts the risk of injury or damage that is implicit in riding on, over or near an arena eventing or cross-country course and cross-country schooling fences, and the risk to spectators.
Before using the Arena Eventing course all riders must familiarise themselves with the course and only jump jumps for which the horse and rider are capable of, taking note of the ground conditions and any hazards or bends.
BE compliant equipment including but not restricted to Back Protectors must be worn whilst using the Arena Eventing course, you will be asked to leave the course if not wearing one and will not be refunded your entry fee. This is for “Your” safety.
Jumps that are marked with red and white flags may only be jumped in one direction. The direction of the jump is indicated by jumping with the red flag on the right side of the jump. Crossed flags in front of the jump indicate that the jump is out of use and must not be jumped. Please report any defect or damage to any jump whilst using the course. All accidents or damage to the course must be reported “Us” before leaving the course.
It is mandated that all gates and barriers are to be kept closed during the period of the Hire.
Instruction
Unless “You” are having a lesson from the partners or staff of Field House Events, then “You” agree that we provide facilities and not instruction, and any instruction is arranged between “You” and the instructor, even if “We” facilitate the arrangement. “You” agree to check “Your” instructor is suitably qualified and has appropriate insurance.
You agree that where you ride with other people (which may or may not include “us”) each rider is responsible for their own safety and no element of tuition or oversight is provided by “us”.
If “You” are visiting to instruct you mandate that you are suitably qualified and will maintain appropriate insurance. Evidence of Insurance is to be provided to “FHE” if requested
Arena Hire
If hiring on behalf of a Group of people and/or “You” have visitors, “You” are in charge of inducting every member of the Group. Below are the induction details.
Disclaimer:
As named hirer, “You” are responsible for the Health & Safety of yourself and any other members in “Your” Group, mounted or dismounted whilst they are on “FHE” site. Every person using the facilities agrees that the do so at their own risk and voluntarily accepts the risk of injury or damage that is implicit in riding or being around a horse on the premises.
Field House Events does not accept any responsibility or liability for any injury, accident, damage or illness to person, property, vehicle or animal whatsoever, or for any loss whatsoever, arising out of or occurrence.
It is mandated that all gates and barriers are to be kept closed during the period of the Hire.
First Aid
If you are hiring any of the facilities, “You” are responsible for the first aid of you, “Your” Group and their visitors/guests. If you need an ambulance, please call 999/112 and give the address Field House Equestrian, Marchington, Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, ST148NX. Dealing with Waste
All droppings must be picked up immediately and not ridden through. Scoops and skips are in the indoor, outdoor and collecting rings. A charge will incur if droppings are not picked up.
All dropping and loose hay in the car park must be picked up and taken home.
Any rubbish must be put in the bins provided.
Vehicles and Driving
Lorries and trailers may not be skipped out in parking areas. Hay nets may not be tied to the sides of lorries or trailers. “You” agree not to leave rubbish at the Farm except in the bins provided. No horse is to be left unattended unless correctly secured inside the trailer or horsebox. Vehicles may only be parked in the allocated areas.
“You” agree to move your vehicle on request. “You” consent to “us” moving “Your” vehicle as your agent and at your own risk. If “You” ask us to move a vehicle then you warrant that you act with the authority of the owner. If “We” agree to move a vehicle then in consideration you will indemnify “us” and hold “us” harmless for any losses arising to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Staying at Field House Events
If “Your” visit includes staying overnight, then “You” accept that the gates to the FHE are normally locked overnight, (from after 9pm to approximately 7.30am) and that “You” will make arrangements to exit the establishment in an emergency with “Your” event organiser or “Us”. Please take any rubbish home with “You”.
“FHE” accepts no liability if a horse(s) is left on the premises without “You” being present.
Smoking/Prohibited Substances
FHE is a no smoking/vaping venue and has a zero tolerance for the use of prohibited substances.
Dogs
Dogs are welcome on site but they must remain on leads and under control at all time. Please pick up after “Your” dogs and dispose of rubbish responsibly.
Accident/Incident/Near Miss Reporting

Payment Details and Event Fees

Withdrawals/Refunds
BD / BS rules apply
Arena Hire is non refundable
Unaffiliated competitions: all withdrawals made in writing before the close of entries are entitled to a refund minus the £3 administration fee. 50 % refund if withdrawn three days before the competition. No refunds thereafter.
Field House does not offer entry transfers.
Cancellation
In the event that any competition is cancelled at Field House for any reason, competitors will be refunded via their original payment method minus a £5 admin fee. Entries will not be transferred to a future competition. Competitors will be notified of cancellation via email to the address used on entering.
General
“You” agree to report any potential hazards or maintenance issues to management immediately (including but not limited to broken fencing).
“You” agree to not to enter any areas of the “FHE” that are not explicitly for the purpose of “Your” visit.
“We” may record and store images and audio for our own purposes, including the management of the facility, the prevention and detection of crime, to ensure compliance with farm rules and for the promotion of Field House Events.
“You” agree to be responsible for any damage caused by “You” or “Your” horse/animal.
Headings are for convenience only and do not affect the interpretation of these terms and conditions.
“We” may close “FHE” or any part of it at any time at no notice due to weather related events, operational issues, any outbreak of equine or human disease, or acting on the advice of any competent authority.
“You” agree to leave “FHE” if “We” ask you to at any time and for any reason.
