Notes

Grass Roots Qualifiers for the Grass Roots Regional Championships (see NSEA website for dates) as well as the NSEA Grass Roots Festival at Hickstead in August 2024

This competition is open to schools from all counties and will count for the NSEA RPL Points League. The RPL finals are at the NSEA Championships in October

NSEA Grass Roots Competitions
The purpose of the Grass Roots program is to provide very novice riders with the opportunity to experience the excitement of competition, whilst still learning their craft. The rules are, therefore, kept as flexible as possible but, please embrace the “spirit” of the rules. Please do not use Grass Roots competitions as an easy opportunity to “pot hunt,” as it is not in the spirit of the competition. Riders who have competed in affiliated show jumping at 70cm or above or eventing are not eligible for Grass Roots Classes The top 6 teams & individuals at qualifiers will be eligible to compete at any Regional Grass Roots Championships. In addition, pony/rider combinations who have qualified for any Grass Roots Regional Championships are also eligible to compete at the NSEA Grass Roots Championships Festival at Hickstead, August 2024 (within the same academic year as the Festival.) See the Competition Dates page on the NSEA website for more information. Page 11 of 28 Horse/rider combinations may compete in two consecutive height classes on the same pony per qualifier. The NSEA 30cm jumping rule also applies to Grass Roots. A GR rider may not jump in 70cm and 40cm classes. Combinations may only jump 60 and 70 GR classes, providing they have not completed 5 x 80cm classes, nor have qualified as an individual for the 80/85cm National Championships in October No schooling whips- padded whips only. No spurs.

REGIONAL POINTS LEAGUE 2024
Regional Points are allocated in the region in which you compete, NOT where the school is located. It is possible to be included in two or more league tables if you compete in different regions. However, points gained are specific to a region and therefore, points gained in more than one region cannot be added together.

 Points shall be awarded as follows 1st = 6pts, 2nd = 5pts, 3rd = 4pts, 4th = 3pts, 5th = 2pts, 6th = 1pt.

The winning team from each Region, at the end of Aug 31st, shall be deemed the Regional Points League winner. The top 4 schools in each region will qualify to compete in the NSEA Regional Points Leagues Team Mixed Height Finals at the NSEA Championships in October. Heights start at 70cm.
