A horse may only qualify for the final once, regardless of the type or number of classes won, placed in or entered. Qualifiers will be contacted by a member of the IDHS show team.
In the Final, the Champion will be awarded £1,000 prize money, and a trophy the Reserve Champion will be awarded £500 and 3rd to 7th inclusive will be awarded £100 each. In addition, the highest placed Purebred Irish Draught will receive a trophy and £100, and the highest placed Sport Horse will receive a trophy and £50.

The 3 highest placed horses (not already qualified) from classes 19 and 20 will qualify for the final to be held at the RoyalInternational Horse Show Hickstead, on July 27th 2024. Qualification can be passed to 4th place if the highest placed horses have already qualified and in the opinion of the judges, the exhibit is of sufficient quality. Pure bred Irish Draught horses must be registered with or overstamped by the IDHS (GB). Pure bred stallions must be the progenyof a graded mare (ID Class 1 Class 2, or RID(GB). Owners of Pure bred Irish Draughts horses must be FULL members of the Irish Draught Horse Society (GB). Irish Draught Sports Horses (including stallions) must have at least 25% proven Irish Draught breeding and must be registered on the Irish Draught Sports Horse Register. Owners do not have to be members of the Irish Draught Horse Society (GB). All horses must be in the correct ownership and must be 4 years and over and 153cm(15hh) or over. N.B Stallions must be ridden and handled by an experienced person over the age of 18 and identified by a white and red tail ribbon (there are many grey ID and IDSH)

1. Classes 1 – 11 & 17 – 18 are affiliated to the Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) and only horses registered with or over stamped by the IDHS (GB) and in the correct ownership are eligible for entry.
Ø ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR IRISH DRAUGHT CLASSES:
Ø All Pure-Bred Breeding and Youngstock In-hand exhibits must be the progeny of a Graded Mare (Class 1, Class 2, RID (GB), AID or Supplementary Grade Up Register) and be by a Class 1, Class 2 or RID (GB) stallion on the Irish Draught Breed Register. All yearling, two- and three-year-old COLTS must be bitted and shown by an experienced handler of 18 years of age or over. All three-year-old colts must be un-inspected Stallions (In hand or ridden) must also be inspected and over stamped by the IDHS (GB) and be Class 1, 2 or RID (GB) All RIDDEN Pure bred Irish Draughts must be registered with or over stamped by the IDHS (GB) and in the correct ownership.
Ø All ridden horses must be 153cm (15hh) or over. All riders of stallions must be 18 years of age or over and must display a red, white, and blue ribbon in their tails.
Ø All owners of Pure-Bred Irish Draught horses must be full members of the IDHS (GB).
Ø All Irish Draught Sport Horse Breeding and Youngstock in Hand exhibits must have a minimum of 25% proven Irish Draught breeding and be registered on the Irish Draught Sport Horse Register. Ø All RIDDEN Irish Draught Sport Horses must be in the correct ownership, have a minimum of 25% proven Irish Draught breeding and be a Registered Irish Draught Sport Horse. Ø Owners of Irish Draught Sport Horses do not have to be members of the IDHS (GB)
Ø Registration numbers to be stated on the entry form and entries will be sent to the IDHS (GB) prior to the Show to confirm eligibility.
2. Competitors may enter more than one class, but the Show Team will not be responsible if clashes occur.
** On The Day entries for affiliated IDHS (GB) classes can only be accepted as additional entries for animals already entered in another affiliated class.
· All entry forms must be fully completed, and the correct fees paid to be eligible for entry to the appropriate classes.
· No entries without appropriate First Aid fee for each rider /handler.
· No entry fee refunds except for cancellation of the Show or a Class by the Show Team prior to the event.
· It is a condition of entry that all exhibitors have public liability insurance, confirmation to be given on the entry form.
· Spot checks will be made of proof of public liability insurance, please bring documents, or a clear photograph.
· All competitor numbers to be collected on the day. In line with DEFRA regulations, random passports checks will be done when you collect your back number.
GENERAL RULES:
1. Health and Safety: The Show Committee accept no responsibility for accidents to spectators, competitors, animals, or their property, in connection with or arising from the Show.
Admission is granted and entries accepted only on recognition of this condition. The Yorkshire Irish Draught & Hunter Show accepts no responsibility for any injury arising from any failure to comply with the Show Rules. No rider/handler under sixteen years of age on the day of the show is eligible to compete in any classes. (Riders & handlers of colts and stallions MUST be 18) Proof of age may be required.
2. The Judge’s decision is final. Any objections must be made in writing to the Show Secretary within 30 minutes of the completion of the class with a £50 cash deposit which will be forfeited if the objection is not upheld.
3. The Show Committee reserves the right to rearrange times, amalgamate or cancel classes and adjust prizes money accordingly. They also reserve the sole right to interpret rules and conditions and to finally settle and determine all or any matter, question or difference arising from Show policy.
4. Bitless bridles, running gags, market harboroughs, side, draw or running reins are not allowed in any class. The use of Swales, Sam Marsh bits and gags with double bridles are actively discouraged.
5. Boots and martingales are not permitted in any flat ridden class.
6. No tack which conceals an animal’s conformation or identifies an animal, its owner or sponsor is allowed in any ring.
7. It is the sole responsibility of all riders to ensure that whilst mounted, they wear appropriate clothing and footwear and a correctly fitting riding hat/skull cap with an integral adjustable
harness complying with the minimum current European standards. These hats are compulsory for
competitors aged 18 years and under. This also applies to handlers and grooms.
8. If in the judges/steward’s opinion any horse is regarded to compromise the safety of other competitors or spectators, they will be asked to leave the ring.
9. A fall of horse or rider in any ridden class will lead to elimination from the class.
10. Parents/carers of children and young people under the age of 16 years are responsible for their supervision at all times whilst at the Show.
11. Dogs are allowed but MUST be on a short lead at all times. (No flexi or extending leads in the vicinity of any horse, ring, box, car park or stable areas). Owners must clean up all mess after their pets.
12. No Smoking in the stable or any indoor area.
13. Equine Flu - Horses must be up to date with their annual vaccination booster (an initial primary course of 3 injections is required for horses more than 5 months old. The second is given between 21 and 92 days after the first and the third is given between 150 and 215 days after the second, and then booster vaccinations given annually thereafter). Must have had their second vaccination at least 7 days prior to the show.
