[Session 1] Monday 4th March 6:30pm - 8pm

[Sessions 2 - 4] Monday 11th, 18th and 25th March 6:30 - 7:30pm

With Georgie Lawlor at Markington Village Hall, Markington

Meet your instructor

The sessions will be conducted by Georgie Lawlor, a physiotherapist in training, yoga teacher and breath work coach; Georgie is currently a Master Instructor for the globally recognised Oxygen Advantage method, with a specialism in females.

Join Georgie on this 4 week course as she guides you through the foundations of breath work and movement, which ultimately will give you the tools to improve your overall health, mobility and self-awareness in movement - a fundamental skill to prevent injury during any sort of movement. Breath-work refers to any type of breathing techniques that positively shift your physiology to improve your mental, physical and emotional health.

The course

Week 1: Here, we will explore breathing fundamentals to improve postural control and make movement feel easier. We'll also be exploring tools to self assess any dysfunctional breathing patterns you may habitually exhibit and learn how to correct them to breathe functionally for more calm, focus and flow. We'll be exploring some gentle movements to put our newfound breathing skills into practice.

This session is slightly longer so we can carry out an assisted self-assessment - how can we know where we are going if we don't know where we're starting, right?

Weeks 2 - 4: For the remaining sessions we will work roughly to a plan of doing 20 minutes of breath work, to continue to develop on those skills learnt in the first week (it can take up to six weeks to shift your habitual breathing pattern so it is essential we keep practising), followed by 40 minutes of moving with breath. It is important to note that we will use a simple movement sequence that will progress week on week. This class is not about learning to be a human pretzel, like many yoga practices that can be very intimidating. It is about learning to flow through simple movements (such as getting from the floor to standing) with ease, calm and control.

I will offer progressions to suit the level appropriate to those attending, and it is likely that some will require different progressions to others - everybody is different and that is perfect. A one size fits all approach generally never works for anyone. Once you get the basics right, anything is possible!

We are then looking to offer a second block, which will present a new sequence that is a little bit more challenging, which after these four weeks, you will be well ready for!

Open to all over the age of 18.

£55 for the full course which must be paid in advance

Maximum of 10 participants, on a first come first served basis.
