RoR Midlands – Confidence Camps with JK Equestrian
RoR Midlands are so excited to announce our confidence camp with Jennie Sharpe, also well known as JK Equestrian. This will take place at her great home venue between 26-28th May 2023. Jennie has a lot of experience working with riders lacking in confidence both in themselves and whilst riding. She understands how a lack of confidence can affect the horse you are working with, a skill which is exceptionally beneficial for many of our former racehorses.
The idea of our confidence camp is to provide an intimate, fun and supportive environment in which you can build confidence at your own pace, supported by others in a similar position. Jennie is catering for just six clients, who will stay in pairs in the well-equipped pods on site at her beautiful centre at East Haddon, Northamptonshire.
The price of £250 pp provides great value for money. The price includes Prosecco and canapes on the Friday evening after you have settled your horses down. Then you can get settled into your pods which cater for two ( and will require two persons to share as we have three pods in total). Over the following two days you will get two lessons per day where Jennie will help you and your horse build confidence as a partnership. You will be able to talk through with Jennie about progressing at your pace from the ground, over poles, building up to some grids and course jumping if that’s how far you want to go. You are in control so you can go as small you like. Jennie is a skilled and successful show jumper and coach and can regularly be seen across the UK at major show jumping events. Outside of the arena there will be opportunity to relax and make the most of the comfortable pods. The price does not include catering, so you will need to provide your own food which can be prepared in the fully equipped pods. Closer to the date of the camp we can discuss how the six attendees want to manage catering, and the option is to get together and share evening mealtimes. In addition to the lessons, we will be providing evening activities to further your wellbeing out of the saddle, full details of this to be shared closer to the camp start date.
If you haven’t yet heard about Jennie yet, who has featured in several equine publications including Horse & Hound, here is her instruction in her own words.
"On 25th December 2018 I suffered a life changing injury and was diagnosed with Couda Equina Syndrome. I had major emergency spinal surgery, my L5/S1 collapsed and crushed my nerve Canal, leaving me with permanent damage and a new disability I had to come to terms with, I was told I’d never walk again unaided and definitely wouldn’t ride again.
I have been left with permanent numbness in my right leg and foot, and no bladder and bowel function. I have since had further spinal surgery in the last 12 months! I’ve been awaiting colostomy bag surgery and recent;
I completely lost my nerve and thought my career was over. I have suffered hugely with my mental health and confidence and the feeling of not being good enough for the professional circuit anymore.
Luckily with a fantastic support team around me and sheer determination I got back on board, and I am back competing!
Life is hard, I’m a firm believer in being kind, working hard and supporting everyone, no matter what level they maybe. I have over 100 5* reviews and recommendations and absolutely LOVE coaching. I am UKCC Level 2 British Show jumping qualified for coaching, first aid trained, DBS checked and trained in safeguarding."
We look forward to welcoming you to the first of what we hope are many collaborations between RoR Midlands and JK Equestrian.
Sorry but no dogs are allowed on site so they will have to stay home during your attendance at camp. Also there is a no smoking policy on site.
