Attention may be paid to the rider’s personal appearance, but detailed inspection of rider or tack is not required. Fancy dress or period costume is not permitted. Competitors are required to walk, trot and canter. No individual show is required, but the Judge may ask groups of 3 or 4 riders to give short displays. RIDING HORSE SECTION Class LH 021 – 027 Held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association.
Owners, Riders, In-Hand Handlers & Horses must be registered or have temporary membership with a Day Ticket. Horses registered with the Association must be Owned, Exhibited and Ridden by current BSHA Members.
Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form. DAY TICKETS Non-Members may purchase up to a maximum of 2 Day Tickets per Exhibitor, per Horse, per Rider, per season.
A Day Ticket will allow entry into Amateur, Home Produced, In-Hand, Novice, Working, Young Rider and Open Affiliated Class LH only, but will NOT allow entry into RIHS or HOYS qualifying Classes. Horses registered on a Day Ticket do not require a JMB height certificate. Competitors can apply for a Day Ticket by downloading an application form, or apply online on the BSHA website.
Horses competing in the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain Classes at their Affiliated Shows cannot compete in Hack, Cobs and Riding Horse Classes at the same show, on the same day and vice versa. This does not apply to SHB (GB) Ridden Sport Horse Classes. SHOW HORSE The highest placed unqualified prize winners in each Open Affiliated Class will qualify to compete in the BSHA Classic Supreme Classes at the National Championship Show September 2022. The BSHA offer a Novice, Young Rider and Amateur rosette in each Open Class LH and a Champion rosette for each section (with the exception of Open Working Show Horse, Ladies Show Horse & HOYS Hunter Classes)

Amateur definition: The rules are as in the rulebook with the following addition that an amateur may not show a horse owned or sponsored by a company or commercial firm. In addition a person classed as amateur must not be supported by a company in any way or act as brand ambassador whether financially or in-kind. An amateur is a person who for the purpose of RoR classes does not/has not during the current season or previous season: Engage (d) in breeding, livery, buying or selling, dealing or hiring horses in a commercial capacity. Horses must not have been stabled at or reside in a Professional Producer's/Trainer's yard from January 1st 2022 Riders must not have ridden any animals produced by a Professional/Trainer in the current or previous season. Horses and riders must not receive any help from a Professional Producer/Trainer at a SHOW in the current season. A rider who has ridden for a Professional/Producer Trainer in the current or previous season must not have ridden horses at a show.
Any breaches of this ruling will be taken seriously and will result in disqualification from future classes.

Show Ponies not exceeding 148 cms must be registered in the NPS Riding Pony Stud Book, Register or Appendix, the GSB, the AHSB, the AASB or registered in the main body of their
respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part-Breds are not eligible unless entered in the NPS Stud Book, Register or Appendix.
These Classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. NPS Silver Medal Rosettes are only awarded when the owner of the champion pony is a Qualifying or Life member of the NPS. A valid membership card must be in the rider’s/handler’s possession on entering the ring and be produced immediately on request by either the judge or the steward. If the owner of the Champion pony is not a member, or the owner’s membership card is not immediately produced, the rosette may be awarded to the Reserve Champion provided they have the required membership card. If the Champion pony has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette but the qualification card goes to the Reserve Champion pony, provided the owner of that pony is a member of the NPS. The Silver Medal Rosette and the qualification card can be awarded no lower than first Reserve (third). Foals are not eligible for Silver Medal Championships. Qualifiers are entitled to compete in the final of the Silver Medal Rosette Championship to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show in August 2023.

This competition is open to stallions, mares and geldings, four years old and over, to be registered in and complying with the showing requirements of the main of their respective stud books. Partbreds and mares with a living foal born during the current season are not eligible to compete.
Riders can be of any age with the exception of those riding stallions must have attained their 12th birthday (small breeds) or 14th birthday (large breeds) before 1st January in the current year. Correct riding attire must be worn, spurs are not allowed and whips must not exceed 30”. Ponies must not exceed the height limits as stipulated by the relevant breed societies. All Animals competing in Mountain and Moorland Ridden Classes will be required to be in possession of a current/valid JMB height certificate within 28 days of the notification of qualification from HOYS or by the closing date of HOYS entries, whichever is sooner. Failure to do so may result in qualification of the pony being removed, at the discretion of GML. Riders and Owners must be members of their respective Breed Society, NPS, UK Ponies & Horses, The Showing Register, or BSPS.
Judges may only judge one Horse of the Year Show M&M Ridden qualifying competition during the current year and marks must be awarded as follows:

METHOD OF JUDGING
1. The whole section will enter the arena at walk on the same rein, the section will be split into two. One half will leave the arena while the other half trot and canter before both judges and then leaves the arena to prepare for the conformation phase. 2. The other half will return to the arena to trot and canter before both judges, the performance judge will judge performance; at the same time the other half will be judged by the conformation judge. 3. Once both halves have completed both phases, they will all return to the arena for presentations. 1. Classes must be confined to SPS-BS registered ponies. Ponies must be named on the entry form and in the catalogue if one is produced. Society rosettes must only be given to ponies registered with the Society or to foals eligible for registration.
2. Three-year-old fillies with foals at foot may not be shown. All foals must be a minimum of three weeks old on the day of the Show.

Pleasure Driving Classes are for newcomers to showing who have been driving for less than 2 years and not intended for those who show regularly or are whips showing in the Private Driving Classes. C

Classes to be judged 15% on vehicle suitability, fit and cleanliness, 15% harness suitability, fit and cleanliness, 70% on driver and groom, horse/pony, way of going and suitability as a family pleasure animal. Competitors may be given a brief series of tasks i.e. driving through cones. Pneumatic tyres specifically designed for carriage i.e. not car tyres are allowed. Lamps need not be carried.

Will apply which can be obtained from the Secretary of the Joint Measurement Scheme Ltd., British Equestrian Centre, PO Box 322, Horley, RH6 0WS.
5. In the case of any dispute as to the age of any animal entered as being of a specified age the Steward shall call in the Veterinary Surgeon appointed by the Society for the purpose of whose decision (unless the animal has been accepted for Registration by its Herd, Stud or Flock Book Society) shall be final, and such animal if not eligible for the Class LH in which it is entered, shall be disqualified.
6. The Society, acting through the Management Committee, reserves the right to refuse any entries without assigning a reason for so doing, and to cancel or abandon any Class or section at any time prior to or on the day of the Annual Show, if there are fewer than three exhibitors.
7. All stock competing must be the bona-fide property of the Exhibitor and must have been owned and in his possession at least TWO MONTHS previous to the day of the Show, except where otherwise stated. All exhibitors are required to have adequate insurance and public liability cover for their stock.
8. No animal shall have its teats sealed during the Show nor shall the udder be in any way 'faked'. Groups – animals should already have been entered and shown in previous Classes.
9. In hand Stallions should be shown by handlers over 16 years on Showday.
10. The Stock exhibited must not be distinguished during judging by any means which denotes their ownership, but solely by a number Ticket fixed to each Exhibit which will be sent by the Secretary previous to the Show and will correspond with the number in the Catalogue.
11. No Substitution of animals will be allowed after closing date of entries, except where the affiliated society approves the change and in the Jumping Classes as permitted under British Show jumping Rule 73.9.
12. All persons in charge of Horses, Cattle, etc., on behalf of the Exhibitor must be acquainted with the various particulars required to be carried out regarding the Stock they have in their charge, and must be ready to bring out their animals when required to do so by the Stewards. Exhibitors are responsible for seeing that their animals are led by competent persons, and no person under the age of 16 years shall be permitted to handle stallions.
13. The Show Ground Manager shall have power to elect his own Superintendents and Stewards, who must be Non-Exhibitors in their own Section. All officials at the Show to work under the supervision of the Show Ground Manager.
14. All protests must be delivered in writing to the Secretary within 30 minutes of the completion of the judging of the Class, unless a satisfactory reason is assigned for the delay, together with a fee of £25. All protests will be heard by the Management Committee within one month after the day of the Show except that, whenever possible, protests will be considered and settled on the Showground by the Chairman of the Management Committee and the various Superintendents who will report such decision to the Management Committee at their next meeting.
15. The Society will most anxiously care for the safety of the exhibits, and for any other property entrusted to them, but it must be distinctly understood by the Exhibitors and Purchasers of any exhibits and all other persons, that the Society will not be responsible for the entire or partial loss, or detention of, or damage to any exhibit, boxes, hampers, collars, or any other property during transit or at the Exhibition whether arising from accident or any other cause whatever, nor for any act or omission of themselves, their officers, servants, or others, and it is on this understanding only that entries are received.
16. The Parking of vehicles on the Showyard site will not be permitted.
17. All Exhibitors and their employees, and all other persons admitted to the Showground shall be subject to the rules and regulations as interpreted by the Management Committee of the Denbighshire and Flintshire Agricultural Society Ltd.
18. No additional classes shall be added to the Schedule after publication except any of a minor nature and that only at the consent of the Chairman of the Management Committee and his Officers.
19. Postponement or abandonment. Exhibitors shall not have any claim against the Society or any member of the Society in respect of any loss or damage whatsoever consequent upon the Show failing (for whatever reason) to be held.
20. Entry fees. Under no circumstance will Entry fees be returned in the case of cancellation of entries by an exhibitor or postponement or cancellation of the Show for whatever reason.
BY ORDER OF THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
21. The relevant committee chairman has the discretion to change the timing of Judging classes and location as and when necessary.
22. This Show will be run in accordance with welsh government regulations current at the time and all exhibitors must comply fully with guidelines laid down. Any exhibitor or exhibit not conforming will be refused entry to the show fields and no refunds will be made.
